Ambarawa Railway Museum

The train museum in Ambarawa has a name, namely Willem I Station. Willem I Station is not a train that carries passengers. But the trains are made to carry military transportation and export commodities. This station became official on May 21, 1873, but in 1976 the Willem I station was no longer in operation. For this reason, this place was made into a museum to save locomotives. Of course, there is another reason that Willem I station was made into a museum, namely that there are many memories in Ambarawa related to his struggles at that time. And another important reason is that there are many steam locomotives that have been damaged so they have been transferred. That’s why the governor 1976 decided to create a railway museum.

Can be used as a prewedding place

Currently, the heritage train collection includes 4 diesel locomotives, 26 steam locomotives, 5 trains, and 6 carriages from each region. Some of the locomotives in the museum are no longer active, but there are some that are still active so they can be used as tourist trains. The Tourist Train will start its route from Ambarawa to Bedono.

If you look at the shape, of course, you are aware that the Ambarawa Railway Museum is a relic from the colonial era. Apart from the shape and story, it turns out that the Ambarawa Railway Museum is often used as a place for pre-wedding photos.
